POP Art
Pop Art started in the 1950's using popular images from current days culture. Some of the common items used were newspaper or magazine advertisements. Some of the common features of pop art are using bright colors, simplified lines in an outline style, dot in a matrix pattern to show color, and close up face images. Many of the Pop Art works of art took the original art out of the original context and transformed the meaning by changing the location that it appeared. Pop art is taking the average common item and placing it out of context for us to examine the relevance that it portrays in our thinking after seeing it in another place. The Project
Create a Pop Art Self Portrait of your own. Using the bright colors, simplified outline of shape, and dot colors to create color in a space develop a project that reflects you. Use a line from a resent email, tweet, blog post, Facebook, text, etc... to use as your line in the voice or thought bubble. Remember that the content of the finished art work must be appropriate for school. Watch the demonstration on how to create this Pop Art Style technique to help you be successful.
