Assemblage Project
Project Guiding Question
How might digital photography be used to explore why certain spaces are important to us and help us communicate these important spaces through visual art?
Project Description
Students will be creating a large photographic assemblage image using Photoshop around the central theme of a space (location) that is significant to them. The steps to complete the project are detailed below.
Project Requirements
1. Pictures – The pictures component of this project will meet the following requirements: New pictures will be taken according to assigned homework. At a minimum, 25 – 30 final pictures will be used within the next stage of the project. You may be taking more pictures as needed based on peer and teacher suggestions. Pictures will be selected for use in the working stage based on personal and peer review. Taking pictures will continue through the working image stage of the project as a result of self-assessment, peer review, and teacher suggestions.
2. Working Image – The working image should meet the following requirements: Using at least 25 different pictures, the student will create large version of the planning stage image. Each picture should be located on a new layer. The working image will be revised and improved through self-assessment, peer review, and teacher suggestions. The background for the image should be white. The size should be 24 Inches by 36 Inches at a 300 resolution.
3. Printing Image – This is a copy of the final version of the working stage image. DO NOT SAVE OVER THE WORKING STAGE FILE. The printing stage should meet the following requirements: Flatten layers and save image as a .jpeg to reduce the file size. Make the file name “Assemblage_NAME”. Size and resolution should match the working stage at 24 Inches by 36 Inches, resolution 300.
