PROJECT OUTLINE:
- Students will choose a story from their life and a narrative approach through completing a planning worksheet and using resources on the weebly website.
- Students will review examples of visual collage and start thinking about how they would like to create their visual narrative collage.
- Each collage needs to include at least three different images of the same person. Images must support the narrative story being told within the artwork.
All images, alterations, and filters used need to be school appropriate. - Students will demonstrate their knowledge and skills using Photoshop:
• Removing backgrounds from some of the images used to create a collage look.
• Layers in Photoshop. Each image is placed on its own layer during production of the poster. Images are merged together to make the final image.
• Filters and editing techniques that enhance or blend images together for a collage look and a complete composition. - Students will use elements and principles of art to create a dynamic composition that communicates a visual narrative story. For example, choosing a color scheme and using a composition that enhances the meaning and imagery that tells the story.
- Students will participate in peer reviews and use that feedback in making choices in revision to their artwork.
- Students will participate in a large group final critique. Students will be graded on participation, explanation and rationale of their artwork and voice (volume, clear and understandable language) in sharing within the group critique.
- Students will complete a rubric, assessing their effort and final artwork, as well as write an artist statement to support their artwork.
